Trucking Accident
A chain-reaction crash on August 11 took the life of a UPS delivery driver. The accident, which involved three 18-wheelers, occurred on Interstate 20 in Newton County, MS.

A Horrific Accident

According to news reports, the accident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. near the 99-mile marker of I-20. All three of the vehicles involved were traveling east when one truck hit the rear of the other. Shortly afterward, the truck carrying the UPS driver slammed into the back of the second truck. The driver of the first truck was unhurt, but two people in the second truck were injured.

The results of the investigation into the incident were not yet available.

Many Possible Reasons

Trucking accidents come in many forms and have many reasons. We’re obviously not going to speculate on the cause of this specific tragedy, but we have, unfortunately, seen many examples of fatal wrecks involving big rigs and other large commercial vehicles.

Many people will automatically assume that a trucking accident is the fault of the driver, but you might be surprised to know that a large number of accidents occur due to circumstances beyond the driver’s control. For example, a critical truck component can suddenly fail because it was either manufactured negligently or the trucking company failed to properly maintain the vehicle.

When we receive a call from someone who has either been seriously injured or lost a family member due to a trucking accident and we find that negligence was the cause, we fight passionately on behalf of our client. Our attorneys work extremely hard to make sure all parties that were negligent are forced to face accountability.
