Baron & Budd Shareholder Holly Werkema Receives 2024 Compassionate Counsel Award

Werkema is among five attorneys honored with the national civil justice distinction

DALLAS – The national law firm Baron & Budd, P.C. is pleased to announce that shareholder Holly Werkema has been named to the 2024 class of Compassionate Counsel honorees. This distinction is awarded annually by The Milestone Charitable Foundation to a select group of trial lawyers across the country who are innovative in their pursuit of justice.

Compassionate Counsel recipients are selected by The Milestone Foundation’s board for their unwavering commitment to the tenets of the Seventh Amendment and belief in the fundamental right to justice. These trial lawyers work tirelessly to help victims of civil injustices receive their rightful compensation and avoid additional harm or trauma throughout the course of their lawsuit. They see their clients as worthy of respect, see access to fair funding and financial support as a right and look out for their clients’ well-being well beyond settlement.

Holly Werkema manages the Pharmaceutical Litigation Group at Baron & Budd where she represents clients and their families adversely affected by dangerous prescription drugs and medical devices. Ms. Werkema has always had a passion for bringing justice to people harmed by pharmaceutical companies that market their products as safe when they are not or when they have misrepresented the efficacy and toxicity of their medical commodities. Over the course of her career, Ms. Werkema has worked tirelessly representing clients in complex multi-district litigation involving a number of high-profile pharmaceutical defendants.
