Former NFL Player Joins Roundup Lawsuit

Former NFL player and ESPN analyst, Merril Hoge, has joined the tens of thousands of people who are filing lawsuits against Monsanto/Bayer AG over its cancer-causing chemical glyphosate found in RoundUp weed killer. Hoge was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003 and linked his cancer to the use of RoundUp when he worked on a farm in Idaho as a young teenager.

Since the 1970s, Roundup weed killer has been touted as the answer to weed eradication with its patented glyphosate chemical as the key ingredient. However, the International Agency for Research on Cancer recently concluded that glyphosate is likely carcinogenic.

Exposure to RoundUp may cause a number of health problems including, cancer, kidney and liver disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, autism, neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, depression, and much more.

Bayer AG faces a growing number of lawsuits brought forward by more than 18,000 plaintiffs after buying Monsanto last year for $63 billion. Bayer and Monsanto continue to lose in court but keep appealing the decisions. Evidence proves the dangers of this product and Monsanto knowingly withheld information and even helped fund studies to conceal the effects of the toxic chemical. When companies like Monsanto fail to warn consumers about the dangers of their products, those companies need to be held accountable.
