California on verge of approving toxic pesticide linked to cancer

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation is proposing the registration of methyl iodide as a pesticide in California, much to the dismay of scientists and environmental groups familiar with the chemical.  California growers will be allowed to use the pesticide after June 29—when a 60-day comment period ends—unless actions to stop it are successful.
