Baron & Budd’s Burton LeBlanc Wins Prestigious Wiedemann Wysocki National Finance Council Award

BATON ROUGE,LA (July 15, 2010) – For the second time, Burton LeBlanc, Shareholder of law firm Baron & Budd, P.C., has been awarded the prestigious Wiedemann Wysocki National Finance Council Award from the American Association for Justice. Mr. LeBlanc oversees the Baton Rouge office of the Dallas headquartered firm.

Mr. LeBlanc is one of only of a few recipients nationwide selected to receive the award, which honors attorneys for their commitment to the legal profession and their efforts to improve the civil justice system. LeBlanc received his award on July 13, 2010 at the association’s annual conference in Vancouver, BC. He was recognized with his first Wiedemann Wysocki Award in 2007.

“I am extremely honored to be recognized by the American Association for Justice and my fellow attorneys. This esteemed award mirrors our firm’s desire to find justice and protect the rights of individuals and groups using our great American legal system,” said Mr. LeBlanc.

The Wiedemann Wysocki award is named in honor of Fritz Wiedemann and James Anthony Wysocki, two New Orleans-based attorneys and active American Association for Justice members who died in a plane crash while traveling to an American Association for Justice event.

Known throughout Louisiana as a champion of the people and an advocate for labor, Mr. LeBlanc has served as the statewide occupational injury counsel for the Louisiana AFL-CIO and represented the State of Louisiana in numerous cases resulting in recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars. While he focuses on environmental law, he has also represented the State of Louisiana in complex, consumer fraud cases and has frequently been part of litigation teams recovering jury verdicts in the millions for the working people of the state.

Mr. LeBlanc was also elected Secretary of the American Association of Justice at the Conference. He previously served as Treasurer and Parlimentarian of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and as chair of the AAJ National Finance Council, the association’s chief fundraising arm, and is a past President of the Louisiana Association of Justice (LAJ).
