Anderson v. Combustion Engineering, Inc., 647 N.W.2d 460 (Wis. Ct. App. 2002)
We represented the widow of a machinist who passed away in 1998 due to malignant mesothelioma. He contracted the disease after being exposed to asbestos for decades while working in a machine shop at the Oak Creek Power Plant. He worked next to a boiler manufactured by Combustion Engineering. The widow filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Combustion Engineering, as well as other defendants in the case. The trial jury awarded the defendant with a substantial award, and the Wisconsin Court of Appeals later affirmed the award. The appellate court ruled that the jury’s decision was supported by both medical and factual testimony.
