Don’t Give Up Hope: Why You Need to Speak to a Mesothelioma Lawyer Before You Decide It’s Too Late

March 6, 2014  |  Mesothelioma

There are lots of situations in life where it is absolutely okay to give up. But that’s only for the things that don’t really matter.

When it comes to things that really matter, like a life-altering diagnosis, you should do all you can before you decide that there really is nothing more that can be done.

Now it’s unlikely that when you put on that roofing or repaired those pipes you had any idea that you may have been flirting with asbestos exposure. And probably the folks you worked with were clueless too. But the manufacturers of the products that contained asbestos (and there were a lot of these) likely knew just what was at risk.

That’s why it distresses us so much when we read Facebook comments that say: “it’s not worth pursuing a lawsuit.” Or, worse yet, we get a call from a family member several years after their loved one has passed due to mesothelioma – and it’s too late for us to do anything.

Here’s the deal: The team at Baron & Budd has spoken to thousands of people who are dealing with, or have dealt with, mesothelioma. Fortunately, we are able to help some of these folks, even folks whose loved ones have already passed away from mesothelioma. But some heartbroken individuals say they are just giving up. They assume it’s too much work, or it’s been too long or it’s just not the “American” thing to do.

And yes, the truth is that there is a time limit (called the statute of limitations) to file a lawsuit for mesothelioma. And while that time limit may seem short, it is different in every state, meaning the only way to know, for sure, whether or not the time limit has passed for you is to consult with a credible mesothelioma lawyer.

Mesothelioma lawsuits are complicated and require the help of qualified mesothelioma lawyers. But they are manageable – even when you or a family member is undergoing treatment.

A phone call or an email is all it takes to get the answer you need to the question: “Can I file a lawsuit for mesothelioma?” But if you don’t make that call (or send that email) you may regret it forever.

So please, don’t give up yet. You still may be able to fight back, even if your loved one has already passed away.

If you or someone you know has mesothelioma, please contact one of our asbestos lawyers here or give us a call as soon as you can at 855-280-7664.
