When a Mesothelioma Lawsuit Helps Your Family: Part 1, Picking up the Pieces

October 19, 2015  |  Mesothelioma

It’s those three little words that get you the most.

"You have mesothelioma." After all of those doctor visits and consults, the mystery symptoms and worrisome chest pain, after the late nights, the mornings coated with fear, you finally have an end to it — you finally have an answer. Only this time, the answer isn’t anything you want to hear at all.

Three little words and it hits you. Suddenly, that life you love and the future you’ve been planning for, that future so close you can almost taste it, is out of reach, stopped before it even started. These words change everything.

Me-so-the-lei-o-ma. This is where your story begins.

We’ve crafted this 3-part blog series, “When a Mesothelioma Lawsuit Helps Your Family" to help you get going after those first three little words. We hope the series serves you in your mesothelioma journey and helps rid some of the confusion surrounding the disease, the treatment plan and, most of all, the infamous mesothelioma lawsuits that may come with the territory.

Part 1, Picking up the Pieces

The first and most important step in this journey is to know that if you or someone you love heard those three little words, you are not alone.

In fact, we’ve helped countless individuals and their families fight back against mesothelioma for decades. We’ve helped them fight back against the employers and manufacturers and job occupations that may have exposed them to asbestos; and we’ve helped them fight back against the lousy safety precautions and other forms of negligence that kept them from having the safety and protection from dangerous exposure to asbestos that they deserved.

If you’ve heard those words, please understand: You are not alone. There are people throughout the country who have been diagnosed with and who have fought mesothelioma just like you.

The thing about asbestos and mesothelioma is, it gets its strength through numbers. When asbestos and mesothelioma makes you feel as if you’ve lost, as if you’re the only one so dangerously hurt, then it has won. Because that’s the kind of thinking that makes you feel like it’s not worth it to keep on fighting, that it’s not worth it to seek justice.

But when you recognize that you’re not the only one, that dangerous asbestos exposure has occurred in countless individuals and caused mesothelioma cancer in far too many of us, then you are on the path to finally having your voice heard.

We encourage you to hold on tight to your hope and your ability to take legal action. Because you have to believe that you can do something to make this right again. You have to believe that your voice matters. And you have to believe, too, that the numerous ways a mesothelioma lawsuit can help make life better for you and your family are worth it.

We’ll be back soon with Part Two and Part Three, going over just how you can hold onto hope and do something to make things right for you and your family. But in the meantime, never forget: You are not alone.
