Global Asbestos Awareness Week: The Global Asbestos Battle

April 6, 2011  |  Mesothelioma, Press Releases

Today is day six of Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW), and the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is continuing the week’s events with “The Global Asbestos Battle.”

It may be hard to believe, but asbestos use still isn’t fully banned throughout the world, even in the United States. Even with the numerous proven medical links between asbestos exposure and asbestos cancers, the asbestos industry still chooses to hide the truth so they can continue to profit off their products –regardless of the cost of human life.

In honor of the issue of the global fight to ban asbestos, ADAO has brought together two wonderful experts: Fernanda Giannasi, ABREA, Civil and Safety and Heath Engineer; and Guadalupe Aguilar Madrid, MD.MSc. PhD.

Giannasi has contributed a piece titled “Battling Asbestos in Brazil,” about the Brazilian asbestos fight. She also presented at last weekend’s ADAO conference on asbestos awareness.

Tomorrow is the final day in GAAW. Tell someone, get involved –do something to help fight the global menace that is asbestos. Together, we can bring about change.
