Thousands May Have Been Exposed To Asbestos At Dow’s Plant
DALLAS (March 17, 2011) -The mesothelioma law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C. announced a $9 million asbestos cancer verdict today for a Dallas family. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of Robert Henderson, deceased, his wife Tanya Henderson and daughters Adrienna and Za’Quoia. Baron & Budd attorneys who represented the Hendersons at trial proved that his exposure to asbestos while working at the facility caused his mesothelioma.
“We verified that Mr. Henderson was one of many workers who was exposed to asbestos at Dow Chemical and later came down with an asbestos cancer,” said Baron & Budd. “Dow knew workers could get cancer.”
Mr. Henderson spent much of his career working around asbestos-containing products. He worked at Dow Chemical as a contract employee, where he was exposed as a bystander to Dow insulators, which contained asbestos. Dow Chemical is one of the largest chemical manufacturing plants in the world, and employs thousands of people who may have been exposed to asbestos in the air as bystanders.
“Dow Chemical wrote it themselves in 1968, ‘any death due to mesothelioma would be considered due to asbestos exposure’ and then inexplicably went on to expose workers to asbestos for decades thereafter,” said Steve Baron head of the firm’s asbestos litigation section. “Our goal is always to reach a pretrial agreement with the other side, but Dow Chemical refused to settle, so we presented our case to the jury.”
For more than 30 years Baron & Budd has been defending the rights of asbestos cancer sufferers and their families. The firm was one of the first to successfully litigate an asbestos cancer lawsuit and remains dedicated to fighting the asbestos companies for knowingly exposing people to harmful asbestos.
