Firm Continues Support of Asbestos Victim Advocacy Organization

DALLAS (March X, 2011) –The mesothelioma law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C. is proud to be a 2011 gold sponsor of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO)’s Seventh Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference. The conference will be April 1-3 in Atlanta, Ga. Titled “Asbestos: Impact on Public Health, Environment, and the Economy,” the conference aims to raise international awareness of the dangers of asbestos, offer education and, ultimately, call for an international ban on asbestos use.

“As a firm that works with asbestos cancer patients on a daily basis, we know how important ADAO’s work is. The organization’s President/CEO, Linda Reinstein, works around the clock to help people who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma and providing financial support for her organization is the least we can do,” said Steve Baron, head of Baron & Budd’s asbestos litigation section. “We are honored to sponsor ADAO.”

Topics covered at the conference will include occupational and non-occupational exposure issues, detection and treatment advances, national and global policy, and environmental and economic effects. Keynote speakers will be Linda Rae Murray, M.D., MPH, President of the American Public Health Association and Chief Medical Officer of Cook County, Ill. Ambulatory & Community Health Network. ADAO will also recognize posthumously Ron Cyrus, who died in 2006 of mesothelioma, with the Warren Zevon “Keep Me in Your Heart” Memorial Tribute. Ron Cyrus was the grandfather of the popular singer Miley Cyrus.

ADAO was co-founded in 2004 by Linda Reinstein after her husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare cancer caused by asbestos exposure. ADAO is dedicated to fighting asbestos cancers, such as mesothelioma, through education, advocacy, and community initiatives on an international scale.

Baron & Budd was one of the first law firms in the country to file a mesothelioma lawsuit and has represented victims of asbestos exposure for over 30 years. In addition to its support for ADAO, the firm has donated generously to Lung Cancer Alliance and the International Mesothelioma Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
