LOS ANGELES (November 4, 2010) –Baron & Budd, P.C. announced the expansion of the firm’s California office. Previously located in Beverly Hills, the California office has been moved to Century City. The new office will focus on complex litigation, including the representation of businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and municipalities in environmental litigation. The expanded California office will be managed by veteran attorneys Dan Alberstone and Roland Tellis, both recent additions to Baron & Budd’s roster of shareholders.
In addition to broadening capacity, Alberstone and Tellis will innovate fee structures for new corporate clientele. “The basic economics of business are changing and we want to be at the forefront of that change, offering corporate clients the advantages of contingency-based and other alternative fee arrangements,” said Russell Budd, President and Managing Shareholder of Baron & Budd. “This is a unique entrepreneurial opportunity for us and for the corporate community.”
Alberstone brings Baron & Budd nearly 30 years of experience prosecuting and defending major commercial and complex business litigation issues and has extensive jury trial experience. He has been selected as lead trial counsel by both corporate and individual clients in high profile cases in areas such as partnership disputes, real estate, breach of contract issues, entertainment law, environmental cases and disputes alleging unfair business practices. The Los Angeles Daily Journal recognized Alberstone for obtaining one of the top plaintiff’s verdicts in 2009, and he was selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers list from 2005-2007 and most recently in 2010.
Tellis is equally heralded, with a practice portfolio featuring complex litigation, environmental cases, multi district class actions, securities matters, entertainment cases, and real estate disputes. In 2005, he received commendation from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his assistance in the successful prosecution of a $120 million securities Ponzi scheme. He was recognized by Law & Politics Magazine and Los Angeles Magazine as a “Rising Star” from 2004-2007, and a “Super Lawyer” from 2008-2011. Tellis is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and a Lawyer Representative of the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.
Both Alberstone and Tellis were most recently partners at the international law firm of Bingham McCutchen and were based in the Santa Monica office.
Over the last decade, Baron & Budd has expanded its national footprint to better serve clients and tackle significant legal matters on a national scale. Most recently the firm has begun representing business, individuals and municipalities impacted by the Gulf Oil Spill.
The expanded Century City office will be located at 1999 Avenue of the Stars, Suite 3450, Los Angeles, CA 90067.
