Global Asbestos Awareness Week: Day 5

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) continues their observance of Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW). As part of their 2011 campaign about exposing the facts about asbestos, ADAO is bringing together expert writers, physicians and asbestos advocates to share information about the dangers of asbestos. Through their efforts, ADAO hopes to raise awareness through educate and community, as well as provide patients suffering from asbestos cancers and caregivers with support.

April 5 is all about Workers’ Safety. Many workers are exposed to asbestos on-the-job, much of the time without his/her knowledge. Even though advancements have been made on curbing the use of asbestos in certain materials and in certain countries, asbestos is still lurking in many older buildings, brake materials and some construction products. Some countries, such as Canada, still mine asbestos and export it to developing countries where policy on asbestos use is lax, such as in India.
