READ MOREGomez Trial Attorneys and Baron & Budd, P.C. filed another Butte wildfire lawsuit in San Francisco’s state court today, helping another northern California family take a first step to rebuild. On September 9, 2015, the Butte wildfire seared across Calaveras and Amador counties, scorching 71,000 acres, 475 residences, 343 outbuildings, and 45 other structures. Over 3,800 firefighters battled the blaze for almost one month.
These lawsuits name Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) as the responsible Defendant, whose power lines are believed to have started the fire. PG&E Vice President Barry Anderson has admitted, “While we don’t have all the facts yet, a live tree may have contacted a PG&E line in the vicinity of the ignition point.” Cal Fire has not concluded its investigation, but the firms are filing now to start the rebuilding process for their clients.
“The earlier we file, the sooner we can help families rebuild,” says Scott Summy of Baron & Budd, P.C., a national law firm.
Plaintiffs Jeffrey Bonifield, Carrie Biggs-Adams and Robert Dayne Adams lost significant property, but are hopeful to begin the rebuilding process.
This lawsuit marks another wildfire case filed by Gomez Trial Attorneys, which currently represents over 110 plaintiffs in federal court for the 2013 Chariot Fire.
“Our first job is to listen. We work one-on-one with each client to ensure we understand what they lost. In wildfire cases, it can be everything. Then we help them rebuild. We’re here to help our clients restore their lives,” says Gomez wildfire attorney, Ahmed Diab.
