LeBlanc Is Only Louisiana Environmental Plaintiffs’ Attorney Selected For Honor

BATON ROUGE, La. (January 6, 2011) –Burton LeBlanc, the head of Baron and Budd’s Baton Rouge office, is one of only six environmental attorneys selected to the 2012 list of Louisiana Super Lawyers, and the only environmental plaintiffs’ attorney. LeBlanc was recognized in the January edition of Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters publication, which represents the top 5 percent of attorneys in Louisiana.

Each year, Thomson Reuters publishes a listing of "Super Lawyers" that honors the top attorneys in each state in more than 70 practice areas. The selection process is rigorous, including an exhaustive peer nomination and review process, evaluation of twelve achievement indicators, an investigation of the attorneys’ ethics record, and analysis by the Super Lawyers research staff.

"I’m very proud to have been recognized by my peers for such an honor," said LeBlanc.

LeBlanc’s practice focuses on environmental law, where he is heavily involved in matters regarding the unique needs of Louisiana. LeBlanc has also been retained by the State of Louisiana through the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration to provide counsel to the state’s designated Trustees in connection with issues related to the Deepwater Horizon explosion and resulting oil spill.

While LeBlanc’s focus is on environmental law, he has also represented the state of Louisiana, state of Mississippi and others in complex, consumer fraud cases and has frequently been part of litigation teams that have recovered jury verdicts in the millions.

LeBlanc is one of the few attorneys nationwide to be honored with the prestigious Wiedemann Wysocki National Finance Council Award from the American Association for Justice (AAJ), an award he received in 2007 and 2010. The award honors attorneys for their strong commitment to the legal profession and their continued efforts to improve the civil justice system.

LeBlanc currently serves at Vice President of AAJ, and has previously served as Secretary, Treasurer and Parliamentarian of AAJ and as chair of the AAJ National Finance Council, the association’s chief fundraising arm, and is a past president of the Louisiana Association for Justice (LAJ).
