June 11, 2019, WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, the national law firm of Baron & Budd announced that Catherine Hancock Dorsey has joined its Washington D.C. office as a shareholder. Dorsey brings almost 20 years of legal experience to the firm after working most of her career at the U.S. Department of Justice. Dorsey has represented the federal government in national, complex litigation including constitutional cases, national security cases, FOIA, tort, and employment discrimination cases.
Throughout her career at the Department of Justice, Dorsey served as lead counsel for the government and presented over 40 oral arguments including arguments before every United States Circuit Court of Appeals in the country. Recently, Dorsey acted as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General and has worked closely with DOJ leadership and White House Counsel. She has been awarded multiple Special Commendations for Outstanding Service, two Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Awards, a Civil Division Award for Dedicated Service, and an Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Furthering the Interests of U.S. National Security.

Dorsey received her undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, her law degree Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown Law. She started her career as a law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in 2001. In 2002, she joined the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, where she worked before joining Baron & Budd.
