Burton LeBlanc of Baron & Budd, P.C. Named to List of Top Plaintiffs’ Attorneys

October 28, 2010  |  Press Releases

BATON ROUGE, LA (October 25, 2010) –Burton LeBlanc, head of Baron & Budd’s Baton Rouge office, was recently named as a top plaintiffs’ attorney on a list complied from surveys of defense counsel. The list of top plaintiffs’ attorneys, according to The American Lawyer, is based on surveys, e-mails and feedback from defense counsel, in-house attorneys and individuals involved in the civil justice reform movement. Out of thousands of plaintiffs’ attorneys nationwide, only 75 were chosen based on their legal expertise and influence.

The list was facilitated by partner Mark Behrens and attorney Cary Silverman at defense firm Shook Hardy & Bacon. According to an interview with The American Lawyer, Behrens stated the idea for the list came from a client who, after commenting that many well-known individuals in the plaintiffs’ bar are no longer practicing, asked who the new “big names” are. Shook Hardy recently released a listed of 75 top plaintiffs’ attorneys who are currently practicing to The American Lawyer.

“I’ve spent my career fighting to protect what’s right,” said LeBlanc, shareholder at Baron & Budd. “It’s an honor to be acknowledged by the other side as such a driving force in the plaintiffs’ bar.”

Most recently, Baron & Budd has been retained by the State of Louisiana through the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration to provide counsel to the state’s designated Trustees in connection with issues related to the Deepwater Horizon explosion and resulting oil spill. The firm will provide a comprehensive evaluation of all environmental and economic damage and ensure that the state is fairly compensated for damage to its natural resources and economy.

LeBlanc serves as Secretary of the American Association of Justice (AAJ). He previously served as Treasurer and Parliamentarian of the AAJ and as chair of the AAJ National Finance Council, the association’s chief fundraising arm, and is a past President of the Louisiana Association of Justice (LAJ). LeBlanc has also received the prestigious Wiedermann Wysocki National Finance Council Award twice from the AAJ.
