Non-Profits and Informational Organizations We Support
We understand that our clients need more than just legal help. They need medical help, information and support. Yet when it comes to something as rare as mesothelioma, with only about 3,000 Americans diagnosed with the cancer each year, our mesothelioma lawyers also understand that it is difficult for patients and families to get the information they need. So, our mesothelioma lawyers have donated generously through various sponsorships to help people battle this cancer on all fronts.
Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO)
The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) was founded in 2004 by Linda Reinstein and Doug Larkin after Reinstein’s husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma. This organization has grown into the largest independent non-profit organization dedicated to raising global awareness about the dangers of asbestos, providing education and advocating for a global ban on asbestos.
Baron & Budd is honored to have been a 2012 and 2013 Platinum sponsor of ADAO and was previously a Gold sponsor. Read more about ADAO here.
Since mesothelioma is a rare cancer, it can be difficult for patients to get understandable information about the disease. That’s why Baron & Budd mesothelioma lawyers partnered with CURE Media Group to produce Understanding Mesothelioma, a comprehensive resource for patients and caregivers that covers essential information about the cancer, ranging from treatment to causes to legal options and support. Printed and distributed, thanks to a generous donation from Baron and Budd, Understanding Mesothelima was updated in 2013 to include new information and an updated section on peritoneal mesothelioma. National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) is a non-profit alliance of 21 of the nation’s leading cancer treatment centers. One of the flagship components of the NCCN is the organization’s Clinical Guidelines, which help to promote the latest advancements in cancer treatment and to standardize quality care. NCCN has been working to expand its Patient Guidelines, an offshoot of the Clinical Guidelines, that translate the physician language into more patient-friendly information. The mesothelioma lawyers at Baron and Budd are proud to have sponsored the printing and distribution of the Patient Guidelines for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma. Firm shareholder Russell Budd also previously served on the Foundation Board of the NCCN. Learn more about NCCN and the Patient Guidelines for Mesothelioma here.
International Mesothelioma Program (IMP)
Based out of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, the International Mesothelioma Program (IMP) is one of the premier mesothelioma treatment and research programs in the country. Founded by Dr. David Sugarbaker, Baron and Budd was a cornerstone donor of the program and Executive Advisory Board member.
