Widespread Atrazine Contamination Subject of New York Times Article

August 25, 2009  |  Environmental, Press Releases

Baron & Budd has been in the forefront of atrazine litigation, representing dozens of water providers from several corn-growing Midwest states that are struggling with the presence of the herbicide in their drinking water supplies. A recent New York Times article addresses the heavy commercial use of atrazine and the burden atrazine contamination places on public water providers. Atrazine use is so widespread that it is already a major groundwater contaminant and is expected to be found more and more frequently. Atrazine cannot be used on crops without also contaminating groundwater, and the manufacturers knew their product would contaminate the environment. Baron & Budd represents public water providers dealing with atrazine contamination, and our attorneys work to shift the cost of atrazine contamination to the manufacturers of atrazine.
