Law Firm Selected to First Hall of Fame After Strong History of Significant Verdicts, Leadership in Cutting-Edge Litigation

WASHINGTON, D.C. –(December 9, 2013) –Baron and Budd, a national plaintiffs’ law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of people who have been wronged, has been selected to the Plaintiffs’ Hot List Hall of Fame by the National Law Journal. Baron and Budd has previously been included on the publication’s Hot List eight times (2002-2006, 2008, 2011-2012) as an exemplary plaintiffs’ firm, thus making it eligible for inclusion in the first Hot List Hall of Fame. Baron and Budd and the other members of the Plaintiffs’ Hot List Hall of Fame were honored at a reception at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. on December 4. Firm shareholder Burton Leblanc represented the firm at the event.

The National Law Journal has published an annual Plaintiffs’ Hot List since 2002, recognizing approximately a dozen law firms annually for achieving significant results that make a national impact. Each year, the publication performs an exhaustive analysis of countless law firms, taking an in-depth look at each firm’s cases, verdicts and the impact of their case results.

“We are proud to receive this prestigious honor in recognition of our commitment to meaningful litigation that protects the rights of Americans,” said Russell Budd, managing director of national law firm Baron & Budd. “Our commitment is as strong today as it was when we started 35 years ago.”

The firm has previously been selected to the Hot List for its precedent-setting work in a variety of areas. Most recently, the firm was recognized for its work in sweeping national litigation against numerous large banks, including a $110 million settlement with JPMorgan Chase — a settlement that forced many banks to change their overdraft fee policies (In Re: Checking Account Overdraft Litigation, 1:09-MD-02036-JLK). The firm also held a seat on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in litigation surrounding the 2010 BP oil spill (MDL 2179 In re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig "Deepwater Horizon" in Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010).

Baron and Budd remains at the forefront of significant litigation that impacts people on a national scale. While the law firm continues to actively work on behalf of mesothelioma patients, the firm is also working to protect the rights of people who have suffered significant health issues due to unsafe pharmaceutical products and medical devices such as GranuFlo, Transvaginal Mesh, Lipitor and Zoloft. Most importantly, the firm remains dedicated to its cornerstone mission of Protecting What’s Right.
