Significant Victories Obtained by Baron & Budd’s Louisiana Mesothelioma Lawyers
Note: Here’s why we are ranked among the best mesothelioma law firms in the nation. This is just a partial list of our mesothelioma case results including only those in this state. Go to our full mesothelioma victory page to see a more complete list.
- $36.7 million jury award for our client who was diagnosed with mesothelioma after working for many years as a Local 60 pipefitter and welder. Our Louisiana mesothelioma lawyers were able to obtain the largest asbestos verdict for a single client in Louisiana history.
- $17.2 million jury award for our client and his family. Our Client suffered and died from a severe non-malignant asbestos-related disease called asbestosis.
- Over $9 million in total settlements for our Client who was diagnosed and suffered from epithelioid peritoneal mesothelioma. Our Client was exposed to asbestos from her father’s dirty work clothes when she was a child. Her father worked for less than 6 months at petrochemical facilities along the Mississippi River. Our attorneys were able to obtain the above settlement for her exposure to asbestos from her father’s work clothes.
- $8 million in total settlements for our Client, a Local 53 insulator, diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos while working in oil refineries and chemical plants throughout Louisiana. Years earlier, he had been diagnosed with a non-malignant asbestos-related disease.
- $6.2 million for Mr. Robert Delatte and his family. Mr. Delatte was diagnosed with mesothelioma at just 52 years of age. A proud father of two children, Mr. Delatte was a life-long union boilermaker who worked at various shipyards and plants throughout Louisiana. After Mr. Delatte was diagnosed with mesothelioma, his life was never the same. He was forced to quit his job and give up things he once loved, such as fishing and gardening, and he was so sick that he could not even watch his daughter cheer at football games. After sharing one final Thanksgiving meal with his family, he passed. Mr. Delatte’s daughter was so inspired by her father’s battle with the cancer that she is considering becoming a doctor to cure mesothelioma. Our Louisiana mesothelioma lawyers are honored to have been part of this family’s lives and their fight against mesothelioma.
- $3.7 million for Mr. Ray Rando and his family. Mr. Rando, a resident of Metairie, was exposed to asbestos through his work as a pipefitter and welder at various industrial sites throughout Louisiana such as aluminum plants, chemical plants, oil refiners and power plants. At the age of 59, Mr. Rando was enjoying retirement when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Everything about his life changed after the diagnosis -it suddenly became more difficult to spend precious time with his wife, two daughters and young granddaughter. At one point, Mr. Rando was bedridden for 18 hours a day, recovering from countless painful surgeries and chemotherapy treatments. Mr. Rando was so sick that he was afraid that he may not survive to walk his daughter down the aisle at her upcoming wedding because the mesothelioma “just sort of took over my whole life.” Our mesothelioma attorneys stepped in to hold the companies responsible for Mr. Rando’s asbestos exposure and for ultimately cutting his life short due to their own greed. Even though Mr. Rando’s lawsuit ultimately went all the way to the Louisiana Supreme Court, our Louisiana mesothelioma lawyers continued to fight on his behalf. And even though it required overturning a long-standing Louisiana precedent, our attorneys didn’t give up and prevailed on Mr. Rando’s behalf.
- $4.4 million for Mr. Ronald Williams and his family. Mr. Williams lived with his wife of 40 years Diane Williams in Gonzales with their three grown children close by. After Mrs. Williams’ battle with breast cancer, the family thought the worst was behind them when Mr. Williams was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Mr. Williams was exposed to harmful asbestos fibers through his work as an X-ray technologist for Mobile Testing Laboratories at a variety of industrial sites, such as chemical plants, paper mills, power plants and petrochemical refiners. Even though Mr. Williams lost his battle to mesothelioma after a fierce four-year fight, our Louisiana mesothelioma lawyers were honored to have fought against the companies that were responsible for his mesothelioma.
