Payton Shiver

Payton Shiver is an attorney in Baron & Budd’s document review team that works with the Class Action, Environmental, Qui Tam, and Opioid Litigation Groups. She joined the firm in 2025.

Ms. Shiver is an alumnus of Clemson University in South Carolina. She graduated from Charleston School of Law, also in South Carolina, in 2020. Ms. Shiver was chosen by her peers as the law school’s 2020 American Bar Association Senator of the Year for her dedication to serving her classmates, school, and community.

Ms. Shiver began her legal career as a residential real estate attorney. She enjoyed working with buyers and sellers, explaining legal jargon in simple terms and putting clients at ease. This experience led her to work in consumer debt relief and bankruptcy, where she helped to make an overwhelming and stressful process easier to navigate for her clients.

When she is not working or watching college football or attending an IndyCar race, you can find Ms. Shiver gardening, painting, reading, or caring for one of her numerous pets. Affectionately known as “the zoo,” her homestead is filled with ducks, cats, a few birds, a turtle, a half-finished koi pond, and occasionally her neighbor’s chickens.
