Kelsey Elling joined Baron & Budd’s Los Angeles office in 2024. She works in the firm’s Class Action Litigation Group.

Ms. Elling received her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law magna cum laude in 2019. During law school, she was a member of the school’s distinguished Trial Practice Institute, an articles editor on the Michigan State International Law Review, a member of the Civil Rights Clinic representing prisoners who experienced constitutional violations, and a teacher’s assistant for the school’s course on Constitutional Law and the Regulatory State. In 2015, Ms. Elling received her bachelor’s in social work cum laude from Delta State University in Mississippi, where she was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and captain of the women’s soccer team.

Following law school, Ms. Elling worked for a civil litigation firm in local government and employment matters, representing municipalities, private businesses, church organizations and insurance companies. More recently, she worked as an associate and senior associate for a firm where her practice focused on litigating complex consumer protection class actions brought under California consumer protection laws for violations of the Consumers Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition Law, and False Advertising Law. Her work there revealed to her a passion for seeking justice for everyday consumers across the nation. She is admitted to the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Virginia.

Ms. Elling developed her love for the law while in high school, when she became involved in an organization known as Teen Court, a diversion program operated by San Diego’s Social Advocates for Youth that allows teenagers who have committed minor infractions to clear their records by completing a program in which their peers mount defenses and prosecutions as “teen attorneys,” after which “teen jurors” mete out judgments and sentencing, all under the supervision of licensed attorneys and judges. Entering the program as a teen juror, Ms. Elling soon became a teen attorney, working with actual lawyers to defend or prosecute a case. In that role, she found her calling, and her future as an attorney was sealed.

In her free time, Ms. Elling loves to stay active by running, snow-skiing, and exploring new places. She also enjoys reading for fun and creating art and craft projects.
