Every commercial truck driver is supposed to possess a commercial drivers license (CDL) before getting behind the wheel of a big rig. But trucking companies are also typically responsible for making sure their drivers are fully trained on how to safely operate their vehicles. This includes showing them how to secure their loads, check tire pressure and more.
If a company fails to do this and an accident results that can be blamed on a lack of training, that company can be held liable for any injuries, deaths or property damage that occur.
Failure to Maintain Trucks
A trucking company bears the responsibility of making sure that every vehicle in its fleet is well maintained. If it is not, it will be unsafe to operate. Companies must make sure that all components are in proper working order regardless of the distance the vehicle is traveling. When a company fails to maintain its rigs and an accident occurs as a result, this is another instance where it will face liability.
