Patients across the country have suffered serious – and, in many cases, fatal – complications after taking Xarelto. These include substantial internal bleeding that can result in death. Unlike warfarin, which can be counteracted by administering high doses of vitamin K to stop bleeding, there is no such antidote for Xarelto. If someone taking the drug suffers severe internal bleeding, there will be little to nothing a doctor will be able to do to stop it.
Some doctors are especially hesitant to prescribe new blood thinners such as Xarelto to elderly patients. They fear that if there is a risk in taking a new drug, it will be more likely to affect an older, frailer patient who is already taking several other medications.
The national law firm of Baron & Budd may be able to help if you have suffered a severe health problem due to excessive bleeding caused by Xarelto, or you have lost a loved one due to this type of complication. Give us a call at 866-795-8339 or complete our contact form. One of our Xarelto attorneys will be able to tell you if you qualify to file a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the drug.
