National Cancer Survivors Day was recently observed on June 5. However, if someone you love is fighting either mesothelioma or some other form of this terrible disease, every day is an opportunity to cherish that loved one and provide the support he or she needs.

Take Nothing for Granted

There are almost 15 million people in the U.S. who have survived some sort of cancer. Mesothelioma is a particularly vile disease, with a survival time of anywhere from four to 18 months on average. However, there have been mesothelioma patients that have lived five years or even longer after being diagnosed.

The bottom line is that no matter your loved one may have, it is vitally important that you appreciate each and every day, and continue to give the support he or she needs to fight for as long as possible. Intensive research is being performed to find new treatments for mesothelioma, and astounding progress is being made. Many people fighting mesothelioma are living longer than ever before. But they are also enjoying a better quality of life than ever before.

Protect Your Rights

An inescapable aspect of dealing with mesothelioma is the cost associated with medical care. There is but one known cause of this terrible disease – exposure to asbestos fibers. Anyone who has been diagnosed with mesothelioma should strongly consider filing a lawsuit against those responsible for the asbestos exposure that led to the diagnosis.
