Michael V. Ellis was born in Denton, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas in 2007. Thereafter, he returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to continue his education at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. During his third year of law school, Mr. Ellis participated in the Criminal Justice Clinic, where he was afforded the opportunity to represent indigent clients under a third year student bar card, gaining valuable courtroom experience. After obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2010, Mr. Ellis went on to work as corporate counsel for a small biodiesel company. In 2011, he joined a Plaintiff’s trial and litigation firm that focused on civil claims of individuals who had been injured by the negligence of others.

Over the course of his career prior to coming to Baron & Budd, Mr. Ellis has tried a variety of civil actions involving personal injuries to individuals. He has, in particular, taken great pride in assisting individuals who file claims against corporate defendants whose greater degree of power and resources creates an uneven playing field. Mr. Ellis has fought in both state and federal courts for fair compensation for the losses his clients have suffered through no fault of their own. He is happy to join Baron & Budd’s Employment Litigation Group to continue zealously advocating for clients whose rights as workers have been violated.

When not practicing law, Mr. Ellis enjoys biking, reading, and traveling.
