Over 100 Virginia families affected by Chinese drywall

Approximately 150 Virginia homeowners live in homes known to contain toxic Chinese drywall, and by some estimates, the number could be as high as 350. Most of the affected homes are between Williamsburg and Virginia Beach.

Defective Chinese drywall emits sulphuric fumes and can corrode household fixtures, plumbing and electrical systems. It has also been blamed for health complaints.

The Virginia governor’s office has appointed a task force to assist affected homeowners and work with federal authorities on a solution.
