Thousands of Workers Injured, Dozens Killed in Accidents Each Year

DALLAS (October 31, 2016) – The national law firm of Baron & Budd is accepting claims on behalf of oilfield workers who have been seriously injured in addition to claims by family members of workers who have died working in oilfield operations. Plaintiffs in oilfield injury lawsuits may be able to obtain compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and more.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average of 104 oil and gas workers died each year from 2003-2011, and thousands more were injured. Workers at risk include:  drilling rig and completion/workover rig floorhands, motorhands, derrickhands and drillers; drilling rig managers or tool pushers; welders; mechanics, H2S advisors and technicians, fracking location workers; and roustabouts.

Some of the more common types of oilfield accidents include:

  • Vehicle accidents
  • Blowouts, explosions and fires
  • Equipment collapses
  • Falls from catwalks
  • Heavy machinery malfunctions
  • Exposure to poisonous gas, including hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S gas)

Many of these accidents lead to life-altering injuries such as amputations, spinal cord and brain injuries, broken bones and more.

Workers in the oil and gas industry often have to work long hours in extreme weather conditions without adequate rest breaks, leading to fatigue that can result in accidents. Negligence  by contractors on a given oilfield location can also play a role in oilfield accidents, such as when equipment malfunctions occur in the field in connection with fracking operations. Some companies hire inexperienced workers in critical positions or provide insufficient training to their workers, magnifying the risk even further for those workers and all other workers around them.

“We have seen far too many instances of oilfield workers being severely injured or killed due to the negligence of others,” said Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of the national law firm of Baron & Budd. “Our attorneys are ready to fight passionately on behalf of those who have either had their lives shattered forever or lost loved ones due to an oilfield accident.”

Baron & Budd has long represented oilfield workers who have been seriously injured or even killed in oilfield operations, denied overtime pay, or laid off without proper advance notice. If you have been hurt or lost a loved one because of an oilfield accident, please contact us as soon as you can. Click here to get in touch with us online or call 866-700-8994.
