California Wildfire Victims: Help Is Available
The out-of-control wildfires devastating northern California have resulted in dozens of deaths and the destruction of thousands of homes and businesses. More than 110,000 acres of land have been destroyed throughout Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Yuba counties since October 8.
Who’s at fault?
Initial news reports have linked California power company PG&E to one of the fires, noting that emergency dispatchers in Sonoma received multiple reports of downed power lines and exploding electrical transformers.
As recently as April 2017, the California Public Utilities Commission fined PG&E more than $8 million for negligence in maintaining a power line that started the Butte Fire in Amador County.
Baron & Budd currently represents victims of this fire, suing the utility company for damages including displacement expenses, lost wages and loss of property.
