National Law Journal List Highlights Twenty National Law Firms With Meaningful Cases
DALLAS (October 6, 2011) – For the seventh time, the national law firm of Baron and Budd, P.C. was selected to the prestigious Plaintiffs’ Hot List. Compiled by the National Law Journal, the Plaintiffs’ Hot List profiles law firms who have done exemplary, cutting-edge work on the plaintiffs’ side in the past year. Out of dozens of plaintiffs’ firms throughout the country, Baron and Budd was one of only 20 firms that were selected for inclusion on the list. Baron & Budd was the only firm with a strong history of representing asbestos cancer and mesothelioma victims.
The National Law Journal profiled three of the most significant cases that Baron and Budd has participated in within the past year, including a $21.2 million award for the city of San Diego in an online hotel tax case, a $9 million asbestos verdict against Dow Chemical in a mesothelioma cancer case, and a $410 million settlement with Bank of America over excessive bank overdraft fees.
"I am so proud to be selected for such a distinguished honor," said Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of Baron and Budd. "As a law firm dedicated to protecting what’s right across the board, it’s rewarding to be recognized for our willingness to take on significant litigation to defend consumers and injured victims of hazardous products."
Baron and Budd prides itself on remaining at the forefront of meaningful litigation. Though the firm’s original mission was to protect the rights of asbestos victims and their families, Baron and Budd has expanded into other litigation areas, such as the Gulf Oil Spill and numerous consumer fraud issues. The firm currently serves on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the Gulf Oil Spill litigation and represents the state of Louisiana in the litigation.
