Chinese Drywall

In late 2011, the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee, of which shareholder Bruce Steckler is a member, negotiated a landmark settlement with KNAUF Plasterboard Tianjin (KPT), one of the largest manufacturers in the Chinese drywall litigation. The total value of the settlement is estimated to be between $800 million and $1 billion and will enable 4,500 homeowners suffering from issues related to defective drywall supplied by KPT to get help.

In 2010, the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Chinese Drywall Multi-District Litigation, of which shareholder Bruce Steckler is a member, launched a pilot remediation program for homeowners with defective Chinese drywall.

Russell Budd and Bruce Steckler negotiated with the WCI Trust on behalf of the WCI Trustees in litigation against their insurers with regards to coverage for Chinese Drywall claims.

Since his appointment to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in 2009, shareholder Bruce Steckler has served as chairman of the Bankruptcy Committee and as co-chairman of the Insurance and Discovery Committee.
