TVs recalled due to fire hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of TVs distributed and installed by Pdi Communications in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, medical centers, and nursing homes.  The wall-mounted 26-inch and 32-inch LCD sets were sold for about $1,000 and installed between September 2008 and July 2009.

Facilities with the sets are asked to immediately remove the power cord and call Pdi to arrange a free repair.  One incident of flames from a set has been reported, which is caused by a defect in the TV’s power supply board.

Johnson & Johnson announces another recall: its fifth in nine months

Consumer product giant Johnson & Johnson is expanding its recall of over-the-counter medications, making this the fifth time the company has recalled OTC drugs in nine months.

The latest recall involves 21 lots of OTC drugs, including certain types of Children’s Tylenol, adult-strength Benadryl, Motrin IB, Tylenol Extra Strength, Tylenol Day & Night and Tylenol PM.

BP Replaces Leaking Well Pipe, Plans to Resume Integrity Tests Thursday

BP replaced a leaking pipe and plans to resume vital well “integrity” tests before placing a newer, tighter cap on the leaking Gulf wellhead. Installation of the new cap could put an end to the flow of oil into the Gulf while the relief wells are being completed.

BP was forced to halt operations Wednesday after a leak was discovered in a piece of equipment called a “choke line.” Senior vice president Kent Wells told reporters Thursday that the company was able to disconnect the leaking choke line and replace it overnight.

Suzuki recalls ATVs because of loss-of-control hazard

American Suzuki Motor Corp. is recalling over 1,000 QuadSport all-terrain vehicles due to a defect that can cause the rider to lose control.

The company has received two reports of the flame arrester screen detaching from its mounting rig.  This prevents the throttle valve from returning to the idle position when the throttle lever is released.
