Purse manufacturers and retailers settle lawsuit, promise to limit the use of lead

Over 40 manufacturers and retail companies have reached a settlement with the environmental group Center for Environmental Health (CEH) to limit the use of lead in their handbags and wallets. The group had discovered high levels of lead in tests on a variety of imitation leather and vinyl purses and related accessories.
Exposure to lead can cause a number of health problems, particularly in young children and pregnant women.
