Baron & Budd Works with Lung Cancer Advocate Deborah Morosini, M.D. To Spread the Word about Asbestos Cancer Risk

September 30, 2009

September 30, 2009 (Dallas, TX) In a new television spot that premieres today, Baron & Budd joins with Deborah Morosini, M.D. to bring attention to the facts about asbestos and cancer. Mesothelioma and asbestos-related lung cancer kill thousands of Americans each year, but use of asbestos is still not banned in this country.

Dr. Morosini, whose younger sister Dana Reeve died of lung cancer in 2006, is a research pathologist who works at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals in oncology research and development. She serves on the board of directors for the Lung Cancer Alliance and the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation.

“Lung cancer kills more Americans every year than any other type of cancer—more than the other major cancers combined” say Dr. Morosini. “But most of us are not aware of the environmental risks we face, like asbestos.”

In addition to the 60-second television spot, Baron & Budd has prepared complementary material on the law firm’s website, including video clips of Dr. Morosini talking on a variety of topics related to lung cancer and asbestos exposure, a fact sheet and information about Dr. Morosini, the Lung Cancer Alliance and the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation.

“We are so pleased to be working with Dr. Morosini to spread a message that is crucially important to all of us,” says Russell Budd, managing shareholder of Baron & Budd. “We’ve represented people with asbestos-related diseases for more than thirty years, and we’ve seen the devastation that cancers like mesothelioma and lung cancer can cause in a family.
