Trades that risk benzene exposure in asphalt manufacturing, paving, or roofing include hot mix plant workers, commercial and industrial roofers, and asphalt pavers. Exposure to benzene can occur while working around heated asphalt products and by using solvents to clean or thin the hot asphalt mix.
