This case went to trial and resulted in a significant verdict in favor of him, his wife and children that was listed by a national legal publication as one of the highest verdicts in the United States that year. The case subsequently settled.

He was exposed to asbestos while in the Navy, aboard nuclear submarines In the 1960s. The case went to trial against the manufacturer of a pipe covering product that contained asbestos. The jury awarded a substantial verdict, which was affirmed on appeal.
